Like Duck to Water, thats how I have taken to life :). This blog is the saga of love and adventures of a small duck in a large water body called LIFE....

A tag for a tag :-D

Altoid tagged me with this tag of tags. All I have to do is put some links to my old posts? Wait a min, isn't that the purpose of the archives in the right pane? :-p. Oh well, here are the rules:

Post 5 links to 5 of your previously written posts. The posts have to relate to the 5 key words given : family, friend, yourself, your love, anything you like. Tag 5 other friends to do this meme. Try to tag at least 2 new acquaintances (if not, your current blog buddies will do) so that you get to know them each a little bit better.

Well, I'm sorry, but I plan to disobey the last part. I don't find time to write a post myself, how can poor me tag people and make sure they follow it? :-p. Hehehehe :)).

Now lets do whats meant to be done :).

Family:

Families are like fudge, mostly sweet with a few nuts - Author Unknown.

:).

Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family in another city - George Burns.

Hehehehe :)).

The happiest moments of my life have been the few which I have passed at home in the bosom of my family - Thomas Jefferson.

Family is my first priority, my love, my life. I have written many posts about it all and here are a few.

Friends:

God made relatives. Thank God, we can choose our friends - Bernard Shaw.

;-).

The best way to destroy an enemy is to make him a friend - Abraham Lincoln.

Well said!

A true friend is someone who thinks that you are a good egg even though he knows that you are slightly cracked - Bernard Meltzer.

Hehehe :)). I have been blessed to have the kind of friends I do :). I regret that I haven't written a lot about them. But something is better than nothing.

I, me, myself:

I like to do all the talking myself. It saves time, and prevents arguments - Oscar Wilde.

Yup, describes me perfectly :-D.

I really don't think life is about the I-could-have-beens. Life is only about the I-tried-to-do. I don't mind the failure but I can't imagine that I'd forgive myself if I didn't try - Nikki Giovanni.

I am me, and I am Okay - Virginia Satir.

This blog is me. I don't know why I need to point out posts for this :-D. But here are all the earlier tags if you really need to know me.

Love:

Love doesn't make the world go round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile - Franklin P. Jones.

True love comes quietly, without banners or flashing lights. If you hear bells, get your ears checked - Erich Segal.

Hehehehe :)).

Gravitation is not responsible for people falling in love - Albert Einstein.

The man says it right :). Love is all around all right!

I like adventure:

The brave may not live forever, but the cautious do not live at all - Princess Diaries, 2001.

My motto! :-D.

It is only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on earth and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up that we will begin to live each day to the fullest, as if it were the only one we had - Elizabeth Kubler-Ross.

I second that!

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space - Anonymous.

Hehehe :)). Have had a lot of adventures. Hopefully many many many more to come..

Ok tag accomplished :).

Dhan Dhana Dhan Goals!

Nope I'm not reviewing any movies here :-D. In fact this is yet another tag. This time I have been tagged by Sumana to list my goals for the next decade :). I feel like I'm back in a "Personality development" class again which I had attended in engineering college before the campus recruitments :-D. Then one of my standard dialogues was "I want to become a manager by the time I'm 30 years old" :-D.

I want to do many things, but realistically speaking here's what I want to achieve in 10 years:

  • I want to become a manager by the time I'm 30 years old. Hehehee. Actually I hope to get back to my career again. I have always admired my mom for juggling her family and career so well and would really like to have that in my life. Money is not really the constraint, but the satisfaction of working is something else. Gosh, I sound like a "Miss India" contestant :-D.

  • I want to finish GMAT in the next year (yup, despite my boasts after TOEFL, I never finished it. Can't really quote pregnancy as a reason, laziness was more like it ;-) :-D) and finally do that MBA I have been aiming to for quite some time.

  • I want to have another baby :-D. Yeah, yeah I cribbed and complained and I keep having second thoughts very frequently about this, but I think every child should have a sibling to grow up with, to fight with and to be friends with :). And though I hate to admit it, it'd be nice to experience the whole pregnancy thing all over again (I'm still not so sure about the motherhood thing :-D).

  • I want to move back to India. I don't know whether we actually will. But I want to, oh so much. I'd like my kids to grow up there, visiting grandparents whenever they want and be involved in all functions and festivals with all sorts of relatives. I want them to have the kind of childhood that I had. Maybe thats kinda selfish of me, but well, thats what I want. Probably the real reason is that I want to be able to visit mom and dad whenever I want ;-).

  • Well, before we do move, I want to finish travelling all over the west caost of USA. I have seen most of the east coast. Don't know whether I'll be able to trek in the Grand Canyon or roam around day and night in Las Vegas with Snuggles around, but would want to anyways :). I would also like to travel to Europe and Australia within 10 years, and hope I'll be able to.

  • I would like to resume learning carnatic music. I left it when I got married, never got a chance to resume it as we moved to US. People here have been pointing me towards a person, so hope to get in touch with her soon (don't really know when what with Snuggles around). Also would like to learn tango, but well that seems like a dream as of now :-D.

  • Personally, would like to become more stable emotionally. I am quite easily driven to tears, haven't quite figured out why (perhaps the harmones are to blame :-D). Have to develop a thicker skin ;-). And I have to stop getting frustrated so easily and become more patient. Seems impossible, doesn't it? :-D.

  • Last but not least, I want to continue writing this blog of mine. After 10 years, I want it to be going strong. Hopefully you'll get a post on what all I've accomplished in this list ;-).

Snap happy :)

Ano tagged me to pick a picture of the year. The rules being:

"All you have to do is select and upload one photo that you have clicked this year (2007) that is special to you. Could be anything…aesthetic, technical or personal. Also, put in a short note why it is special."

I thought a lot about it. First I thought of a picture of the sea. Next I thought of a sunset. But finally this made sense:

Though it sounds cliched, for me, 2007 has been mostly a bed of roses. Yes there were thorns, the major one of them being me leaving my job in January 2007 which caused me some grievance all over the year, but they were all in the background (just like in the pic). Maybe the leaving job thing was for the good as well. After all, my pregnancy was literally work-tensions free :). Secondly the snap somehow points out that Sri and I are not "two" anymore, but are "three" now with Snigdha :).

I hope 2008 will also be the same way. But if there are more thorns than roses, I won't ask God for the thorns not to be there or to take the thorns away, but will pray for the strength to walk on a thorn knowing that its there and knowing that its going to cause pain. Simply put, to make life a rich experience, roses are plain not enough ;-) :).

Tag - 22 :)

Saw this really witty tag on Orchid's. It somehow seemed to bring out the cheeky side to me :-D, so decided to pick it up (I've never voluntarily picked up a tag before :-p). This is the most outrageous thing I've done in my blog so far, so better be warned ;-) :-D.

The tag consists of 22 questions asked by a guy to better understand women in general. I've seen some brilliant answers posted around (looks like the women are really enjoying the tag :-D), so I hope that, whoever the guy is, gets some enlightenment :-p. Well, if my guy asks these, he'll never get to know the real me from the answers :-D.

1. How do you feel after a one night stand?

After standing for one whole night, I'm sure anyone's legs would be in hell. Although why stand when you have a perfectly good bed to sleep in, is beyond my understanding :-p.

2. Do you ever get used to wearing a thong?

Don't know, I have enough things to make me uncomfortable as it is (that includes you :-p).

3. Does it hurt?

Why don't I gift you one and for once, you can find out all by yourself?

4. Do you know when you are acting crazy?

Ofcourse. Do you know I do it deliberately just to drive you crazy? >:).

5. Does size really matter?

Nope, you can wear any size shirt/trouser as long as I'm not around ;-).

6. When the bill comes are you still a feminist?

Sure but being a chauvinist I'm sure you'll pay it anyways ;-) :-D.

7. Why do you take so long to get ready?

So that, unlike you, I don't look like an ape when I am out :-p.

8. Do you watch porn, too?

Why ask? Do you really want to be compared to a handsome "well-endowed" hunk? :-D.

9. Will something from Tiffany’s solve everything?

Depends on
a) How big of a jerk you were..
b) How big and clear the diamond is..
In simple software logic,
If (b < a )
then "no way in hell";
Else if (b = a)
then "uh don't think so";
Else if ((b > a) + 100 apologies)
then "Hmm, maybe";
Else if ((b >>>>> a)+ 1000 apologies)
then "Ok";

Tol mol ke bhol ;-).

10. Are guys as big of a mystery to you as you are to us?

Yup, you are like a poorly written mystery which looks interesting from the cover, but turns out to be a damp squib once we actually start reading :-p.

11. Why do you sometimes think you look fat?

Because of what you say sometimes - "I think you need some more exercize" or "Why do you eat so many chocolates?". Grrr, grrr and more grrrrrrr!!

12. Why are you always late?

Better late than never ;-) :-D.

13. Does it bother you when we scratch?

You mean when you scratch my back? No, that feels so gooood :-D.

14. Do you wish you could pee standing up?

Why would I wish that? Splattering it everywhere is certainly not my idea of fun!

15. Why do so many women cut their hair short as soon as they get married?

a) Once you have the bakra trapped, you don't really need his or anyone's permission to do what you want ;-).
b) Its the better alternative to tearing out all the hair due to frustration with the guy ;-).

16. How often do you think about sex?

As often as you think about saying "I love you" to me :-p.

17. What do you think of women who sleep with guys on the first date?

The guys must have had some junk in their trunks ;-).

18. Would you?

Does size really matter? Hehehe >:).

19. Do you realize every guy wants a girl just like his mom?

Oh, now I know why "every" guy whistles and makes catcalls at all the girls roadside :-p :-p :-p.

20. Why does every woman think she can change him?

If you don't find a "Prince Charming", you have to try and repair what you get :-\.

21. Does it matter what car I drive?

Nope. As long as you let me drive and wreck it >:).

22. Do you ever fart?

You must be either be colossally stupid or sublimely egotistical if you thought you were the sole reason for all those smells and sounds..

Hehehe :)). I don't want to tag and cause anyone discomfort. If you think you have some witty answers for the 22 questions, then you are very welcome to pick the tag up :).

A tag in time saves NINE ;-)

Warning:

The following post contains 9 facts about me, one of which is a bland lie. I know , I know I have written so many facts about myself in so many tags that even you must be tired :-p. But well, since you are coming back and reading this, its basically your problem :-p.

Accidental Diva tagged me. So lets start off without much ado :).

  • I have bitten my nails for more than 16 years. I stopped when I got my first job in campus, but resumed after getting married (one of the excuses I get to tease Sri , saying "Its all because of you" ;-) :-D). Right now, I am proud to say I've stopped this dreadful habit (for more than an year now). But looks like it can return anytime after all :-p.

  • I can yap, yap and yap. I'm so talkative that I talked to a person who was practically a stranger (she was my dad's student, but I didn't know her) for about 2 hours over the phone (and this was the first time I ever spoke to her!!) :-D.

  • I've said it a couple of times and I'll say it again. I love adventuring. I have done bungee jumping, white water rafting, ski-ing, rappeling, river-crossing, jet boat rides and para-sailing. Trekking and hiking are what I consider "normal" :-D. I have been wanting to sky-dive for quite a while, but Sri absolutely refused to go and then refused to let me go alone (Awww!! Cho Chweet!). Still there is jet-skiing (or wave-runners as they are called here), scuba-diving and mountain climbing to do ;-).

  • I love travelling. Travel and adventures go hand-in-hand for me. I hope that I get to see the seven wonders (the old ones) atleast once in my life. Additionally, I have aspirations of scuba diving at the Great Barrier Reef, travel across Sahara desert on a hot air balloon and go on an african safari! I wish I could have unlimited money just so that I can see everything there is to see ;-).

  • I am a cleanliess freak!! I can't handle even a speck of dust anywhere. My kitchen has to be spotless, my bed has to be made and there should be nothing scattered anywhere on the floor. I don't accept anything thats not upto "my" standards!!

  • I have a habit of becoming totally silent whenever I am upset over anything. It is a sure-fire way for Sri to know (now he recognizes the signs ;-) :-D) that he has done something wrong :-D. After all I am talkative otherwise ;-).

  • I am online the whole day on yahoo messenger. As soon as I get a mail, I "have to" open the mail and see it. There's no "it can wait" or "later". Its literally "now". Even when I was working, it was the same case, but then I had my work mail in addition ;-).

  • I admire every single thing in nature. I am fascinated by waterfalls, sunsets, night skies, literally anything in nature and I consider these as "live" paintings by God :). If you go on treks with me, I can guarantee you that you'll spend half the time watching me examine/admire every flower/mushroom/fruit intently and the other half watching me click pictures of anything and everything I see :-D.

  • I am not one of these continuous shoppers. Whenever I go shopping (or even window-shopping for that matter), I can concentrate/show any interest only for about 1-2 hours. Afterwards, I kind of feel dazed, start getting a head-ache and can't wait to go home. It maybe due to the hugggggggggge shopping malls here in US and all that different kinds of lighting inside :-O!

Tell me which one's a lie?
Where, how and why?

Good luck! Well, most people have already done this tag, but if you want to take it up, hey, I'm not gonna stop you ;-) :)).

We are off to Miami tomorrow for the long weekend. So I'll be updating about which is the lie only after coming back (most probably Wednesday :-D). So long!

Update on Sept 6th 2007: I am completely opposite to a cleanliness freak :-D (the 5th point is the lie). Doesn't really mean I allow dirt to be gathered around, but am a bit messy ;-). Maybe due to my inherent laziness. Obviously my parents and Sri knew this (Sri, after seeing the messy bedroom, commented "Wow, this is spotless!" :-D).

Those who got it right, are allowed the privilege of helping me clean the house :)).

If I were not Deepthi...

If I were not Deepthi, then certainly there wouldn't have been this blog :-p. Tagged by Orchid :).

If I were an animal/ bird:

I think (hope) that I'd have been a lioness. I'd be tame as a house-cat when my stomach's full, but when I'm hungry, would bite the arm off of anyone who'd come near me ;-). If I was a bird, I'd certainly have been a peahen. Its nice to have the males really handsome and dancing to your whims and fancies ;-).

If I were a vehicle:

I think I'd be a Kinetic Honda. Sneaking in and out of tight spaces and situations, I am easy to manipulate ;-). Not to mention, a bit heavy to handle :-\.

If I were a city:

Have to say Bangalore for this. A place that anyone can adapt easily to. A place that accepts everyone, does not differentiate. Friendly and infinitely adjustable :).

If I were an art form:

I would be any melodious song (I consider music as art). I am generally able to charm my way into everybody's hearts :). Sometimes I can be very soothing, at other times make you want to dance :-D.

If I were a color:

I'd be shades of white and black. My happiness and sadness are extremes, so when I'm sad, I'm entirely black. When I'm happy, there's no limit to my joy.

If I were a film star:

I would be Kajol. I am usually the fun sorts, but when it comes to family, I'd give up everything :).

If I were a vegetable:

I think I'd be a tomato. I'm obviously plump ;-). I am unpredictable. Though most of the times I'm sweet, I can suddenly be very sour too. But I'm always fresh and fun :).

If I were a fabric:

I would be velvet. There is a smooth and a rough edge to me. I can be soft, but sometimes I can be very scathing too ;-).

If I were a flower:

I hope I am a rose. I can be passionate about certain things, I'm friendly always, I'm usually liked and seldom ignored :-D.

If I were a perfume:

I don't really like perfumes, but if I were a perfume, I'd be something very light and lingering. I am not very easy to forget at all :).

If I were a gizmo:

I would certainly be a computer - no one but my creator understands my internal logic and even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for possible later review (stole this from one of the usual forwards comparing computer to a woman ;-) :-D).

If I were to tag:

I would tag Thanu and Preeti. If you have aleady completed the tag, nothing better :-D.

Unknown (h)eights!

Just when I thought I was running out of ideas for blogging, Thanu has tagged me to reveal 8 facts about myself that no one knows. This is gonna be difficult for me as I have continuously revealed things about myself in other tags (7s, Confessions, Myself) :(. But I'll try my best and so lets start off. Instead of unknown facts I'd like to call them my strange quirks :-D.

  • I eat very fast. This is a fact known to most of my close friends and they always complain about it. I am done eating while my companions are usually only halfway through their meals ;-). I think I hardly chew my food :-D. I have tried changing this habit, but it hasn't really worked so far :-p.

  • I hate wasting food. I can't take it if Sri doesn't clear all of the cooked rice grains in rice vessel (he's usually the one who ends up eating last because of the first point I mentioned ;-) :-D). I make sure I clear the vessel myself and put the last grain into his plate. I don't throw out any food thats not spoiled. I am not really kanjoos (miserly), but I think that every single morsel comes from hard-earned money and so I can't bear to waste any of it :-D. I think I got this habit from my parents and well, I don't plan to change any time soon :).

  • My eyes have this strange habit of picking shiny things on the ground when I'm walking. Its not like I go looking for shiny things. Its an automatic instinct. Its just that I notice any shiny thing on the ground. Well, if its a coin, I even pick it up :-D. Whatever it is, I examine it intently (I don't pick it up, but examine it by sight) before moving on :). Most of the times, I only "see" glass pieces, chocolate wrappers, iron nuts and bolts etc :-p. But I did find a dime once and have found about 5 cents till now. The value (or the fact that its money) doesn't really matter. I don't find any dollar notes anyways, as they do not shine in any way :-p.

  • Despite my previous post where it might seem like I can't live without exercizing, I don't really like exercising (I totally relate to the quotes at the end :-D). I am extremely jealous of people who don't exercize but still are slim (Sri is one of them :-p). Its more like I exercize because I have to :). I try to make it more enjoyable through the various distractions. Like previously when I used to go to gym, I would switch on the TV and watch a TV show or listen to some loud music. Now I distract myself by observing various trees, plants, people and animals. And of course by looking for shiny things :-D.

  • I am a kid at heart. I love watching cartoons of all kinds :-D, playing some computer games and as I mentioned in my post on Chicago, love toys like Legos :-D. I'm like a kid when it comes to nature too, I look at flowers, plants, etc with the wonder of a kid :). I also enjoy chocolates and icecreams (I know! I know! I've said it too many times!) like kids too :). I sometimes don't miss my childhood just because I feel I am playing house with Sri ;-) :-D.

  • I don't really believe in the Satyagraha policy of Mahatma Gandhi (Suddenly am not a kid anymore eh? ;-) :-p). Though I loved "Lage Raho Munnabhai", I don't relate to this particular principle in any way. In fact I'm sure that I would have been an extremist had I been in the pre-Independence era :-D. I believe more in "Tit for tat" than "Show another cheek if a person hits you on one cheek".

  • I've mentioned that I sing in a couple of tags. I not only sing, but I have most of the songs memorized in my head. I think of my head as a database consisting of lyrics of tens of thousands of songs - hindi, kannada, english of all types - filmi, light music, classical, pop, rock and metal :). And yup, the retrieval of a song lyrics is much faster in my head than any computer database. Performance testing hehehehe :).

  • Hmm what else? Did I mention I cook well? Yes I have :(. Did I mention I take pictures? Oh yeah, my blog is living proof of that. Did I mention I write poems? Oh they are all here in my blog :(. Oh wait, I know. I am a spelling-check freak :-D. I revise each of my posts minimum 5 times - 2 or 3 times as I am typing the post. Once in the preview. And maybe 2 to 3 times after I publish the post. Also, if I am reading any of my old posts (for the umpteenth time) and I see a spelling mistake or don't like the way I have formed a sentence, I change it immediately, no matter the post is not even visible as of today :-p :-D. And yup, I've already read this particular post 4 times before posting :-p.
Alright, I'm done, phew :). I have accomplished 2 tasks as per the rules of the tag - I have mentioned the person who tagged me and typed down 8 facts about myself. The 3rd is what I dislike the most, to tag 6 people. Sigh, sigh and more sigh!! I avoided tagging people in my 2nd and 3rd tags, but I think I'll go ahead and tag some people in this one. After all I have to do "tit for tat" for the people who tagged me. But to be honest, I'm already anticipating the brickbats :(.

  • Gayathri - Take that, you who made me write my first tag post :-p.

  • Shubha - You know why I'm tagging you, my 2nd tag post of course :).

  • Harish - You guessed it right, my 3rd tag post bearer ;-).

  • Soumya - wanted to tag a close friend to find what she'll write, 'cause I think I know many things about her :-D.

  • Vanditha - Another close friend, she's been missing from the blog world for sometime due to various reasons. Vandu, take your time :).

  • Aastha - she's been off blogging for sometime and is back with a bang. So more work for her ;-).
Oh well, more tags for me if the others in this tagged list believe in "tit for tat" business as well :((. On second thoughts, more people for me to tag, Muahahaha >:).

Me, Myself and Deepthi :)

Another tag. This time I have been tagged by Harish. Well, here we go :).

I am thinking about:

The tag I am trying to fill up :-p.

I said:

"The Brave may not live forever. But the Cautious do not live at all". Ok I may not have said it on my own, but I love repeating it now and then (especially when I'm in an adventure mood ;-) :-D).

I want to:

Live a life where I have no regrets whatsoever :).

I wish:

I could see my parents every day and be near them. I can see them on webcams but its just not the same :(.

I hear:

Weird voices in my head. And I see dead people :-D. Just kidding!! I hear music all the time in my head. Which is why you'll find me humming to myself most of the time :).

I wonder:

What happens to people after death. What is dying?? I even wrote a poem on it here :-D.

I regret:

Nothing in my life except a few broken friendships and the fact that I am responsible for those :(.

I am:

What I am :). A Bundle of Contradictions :).

I dance:

Not so good. But I do dance when I hear real dance-able music. The definition of dance-able depends on my whims and fancies ;-). Oops, never in public :-p.

I sing:

Yup I sing :). Classical, Light, film, western pop, rock and metal. I am a good sing-it-all :-D.

I cry:

When my emotions get the better of me (how come this coincides most of the times with PMS, I wonder!!) :-D.

I am not always:

The nice person I am. Sometimes I am downright wicked and bitchy :-D. If I can't stand a person I believe it shows in my face and attitude :(. I should learn to be more pretentious I guess :-p :-D.

I make with my hands:

Good food :). For a person who didn't know what cooking was before marriage, I'm very good :). I also love planting flower bushes :).

I write:

All the things that happened/are happening to me. Kind of a reminder to myself that I'm doing so many things/have done so many things in my life :). I don't actually write, I TYPE :-D.

I confuse:

Supermarts and the roads they are on. But I'm improving slowly, step by step ;-).

I need:

My loved ones. I only care about them and their well-being.

I tag :

None. Its "Once bitten twice shy" after my 7s tag :-p. Requests will be entertained :-D.

Confessions of a dangerous mind >:)

Well, not that dangerous. Have been tagged by Shubha to confess big time, so here goes :-D. Since I have a tendency to write too much if I am asked to write about myself, I'm gonna try and restrict myself to a maximum of 5 points each :).

Guilty Pleasures:

There is no guilt associated, believe me :-D. These are more like indulgences ;-).

  • Chocolates and Icecreams :-D.

  • Long head baths (Love that feeling of hot water on my hair :-D).

  • Listening to Music most of the time (even while working).

  • Fragrant candles (my latest fascination ;-) :-D).

Things I can't forget:

  • My parents and the way they have brought me up. They have done so much for me. I only wish I could be near them :(.

  • My friends'/relatives' birthdays and anniversaries. Not that I actually remember each and every date. I have reminders setup and I never forget to setup one whenever I get a new date ;-). I take immense pleasure in wishing people :).

  • The reassuring look Sri gave me, when I cried during the dhaare in my wedding :).

  • Some close friends that I have made so far in various phases of my life and the wonderful moments I have shared with them :).

Things I wish to forget:

  • Some broken friendships which probably will not get mended for life :(.

  • That I actually cried when I was not selected to Infosys in campus interviews. its was only later I realized that things worked out way better for me because of that ;-).

  • My grandfather's death :(.

Unforgettable dishes:

  • The goodies that my mom makes. Whatever she cooks are goodies to me. But I especially love her pathrode, semige (a type of vermicelli made from scratch), the varieties of bajjis and bondas she makes, the side-dishes she makes for puris and chapathis, oh this is impossible!! I'll have to list all the dishes she has ever made!! Hehehe :-D. I hope I am half as good as her :).

  • Hot Chips' spring rolls, burgers and chocolate-dip softy (Yum, brings back lots and lots of memories).

  • The bhel puri, masala puri, pani puri of this one paanipuriwaala in Jayanagar 4th block. Dad used to take me and Darsh there when we were very young (he used to tell mom "Makkalna meisikondu barthini" :-D, hehehe, can't really translate it without spoiling the meaning) and the taste stuck. I even went there this India trip ;-).

  • The samosas and the naans that my Puttanna chikkappa makes :).

  • Tirupathi Laadu and Nippattu :). In fact, most of the temples have really tasty prasadas, including Raagi gudda temple's boondi laadu and Udupi Krishna temple's delicious lunch :).

Crushes:

Where to start? I don't want to list each and every one, but will list a few important ones ;-).
  • When I was in high school, was crazy about Sachin Tendulkar :-p. Don't frown at me, call it a kind of insanity and forget it :-p.

  • As soon as I got over Sachin, was head over heels in love with a senior who was a basket ball player (this was in high school again). Man, that guy had killer dimples ;-).

  • A senior in NCJ. Sadly the crush lasted only for 3 months as he was in final year. Out of sight, out of mind, you see :-D.

  • A senior in PESIT who used to sing real good. Man, he had a lovely voice. I even wrote a poem on his voice ;-). "But your voice is not my home..", pathetic, amn't I? :-D.

Close brushes with death or danger:

  • Bungee-jumping :).

  • White Water rafting (fell into the water in the first rapid. But it wasn't really that scary, since I had a life-jacket on :).

  • Ski-ing. Was really scary the first few times, since I was totally out of control. But after that it was child's play :-D.

  • Rappling. The first time when you leave your weight on the rope is scary. After that, loads of fun :).

Strangest dream:

Too many to list. But I did write a post on it some time back and it does have some really weird ones :-D.

Preferrable modes of suicide:

Hmmm I don't prefer suicide period. But unlike some people who say that those who commit suicide are cowards, I beg to differ. I think it takes some amount of courage to end it all, so to say. I believe in "Known devil is better than an unknown angel", so I'd rather stick to troubles than think of suicide.

Favourite characters:

  • All characters in "Calvin & Hobbes". Especially Calvin's mom. "I wanted a sweet little girl, it was your stupid chromosome that did it" (she says this to Calvin's dad) :))).

  • Michael Scofield in "Prison Break", a serial on Fox. He's smart, he's sensitive, he's oh-so-cute :)). Its coming back!! Its coming back!! Season 2 is starting this month!!

  • Most of the characters that Aamir Khan has played except the stupid Mangal Pandey :-p.

  • Jerry in Tom & Jerry. My mom actually roots for Tom :-D. She says the poor cat never gets a rat to eat :-p.

  • Fatty in Five find-outers. I love his intelligence and I love the way he boasts about the colours of his bruises. In fact whenever I get bruises, they turn into wierd colours too. And I'm actually proud that I'm like Fatty atleast in one way :-D. Not that I'm not intelligent :-p.

I tag:

None. I tagged people in the 7s and got scolded royally. So if you want to get tagged, send me your request in the comments and I will seriously consider adding your name here :-p :-D.

That's it. Hope you enjoyed knowing about my quirks :).

7 -> Satte pe Satta -> I've been tagged :)

Wise Donkey a.k.a Gayathri tagged me and I really can't refuse 'cause she's one blogger whose posts I really love. So here goes:

Seven Things you want to do before you die:

  • Skydiving :-D (If you had asked me an year ago, the first one would have been bungee-jumping ;-) But me and my hubby bungee jumped on our trip to South Africa, so the next stage should be sky-diving :-D).

  • Climbing Mt. Everest (someday).

  • Attend Tango classes with my hubby Sri (Poor guy, I get him in trouble all the time).

  • Own a really good telescope (I've been interested in astronomy since high school and can recognize most constellations, planets and have seen 3 comets :) ).

  • Learn professional photography (I love to photograph stuff, am planning to start a webshots section soon :) ).

  • Travel all around the world.

  • Own a dog/cat/both (Would love to own a golden retriever or a white/cream coloured labrador, but I am scared of the responsibility ;-) So am aiming it when Sri and me are really old and cannot travel anywhere ;-) ).

Seven Things you can do :

  • I can cook well (as I've discovered recently, its no big deal. But the credit for my cooking goes to my mom's recipes :). Will be coming up with a post on it soon :-D).

  • I can sing very well (Been singing from childhood, learnt classical for sometime before I got married. Will be resuming as soon as I'm back in India. I also know the lyrics of most songs - be it classical, kannada light music, hindi film songs or english pop/rock/metal songs).

  • I can bungee jump :-D (Jumped only once, but it still means I CAN :-D).

  • I can trek/hike/walk for hours without complaining :).

  • I can feel the wonder of little moments and enjoy them (This is when others are wondering what's the big deal about the same. See my last three posts, especially the last one).

  • I can be alone for a long time without feeling bored (Have come to know of it for sure after I came to U.S..).

  • I can drink more than 2 litres of water per day (Been doing water therapy since my adolescense. What started as a quest to glowing skin has become a habit now. I drink 1.5 litres of water right in the morning and later another 0.5 litres while working out. After that the whole day I keep sipping water at regular intervals :) )

Seven Things you say most:

  • God!! (At least, I think of Him many times a day because of this word ;-) )

  • What the heck??

  • Sheeeesh!!

  • Don't do this to me! (This to non-living things like a puri that doesn't puff, a curry that's trying to get burnt or the blogger which eats away my posts before I could save them ;-) :-D)

  • Hello??

  • "Love you" to Sri (Learning to say it many times a day ;-) ).

  • Ayyyyo :)

Seven Things you can't do:

There's very less I can't do, but I'll try to find seven somehow >:)

  • I can't still get over the fact that I'm so far away from my parents :( (Probably never will).

  • I can't think of a life without my loved ones (Sri, Mom, Dad, Darsh..).

  • I can't seem to stop biting my nails when I'm reading a book, watching a movie etc (will be soon coming up with a post on that :) ).

  • I can't pretend to like people whom I dislike thoroughly ;-) (There are very less no. of people whom I genuinely dislike, but I cannot pretend that I like them even in front of them ..).

  • I can't bear cigarette smoke. I get irritated almost instantly and make a scathing comment ;-)

  • I can't help but login to chat messengers every single day..

  • I can't eat meat - no matter even if I don't have anything else to eat (always brings a picture of the poor living thing being beheaden immediately to my mind..)

Seven Things that attract you to the opposite sex:

  • Dimples, Dimples, Dimples (do I really have to continue with the rest of the 6 things? :-D).

  • Sense of Humour.

  • Intelligence and the ability to talk about any topic (but not a Mr. Know it all).

  • Patience (and a lot of it!!).

  • Helpfulness.

  • Maturity (This I have found basically in men who are elder siblings. Younger siblings are usually childish and behave very immature though they are grown ups :) Just my POV ;-) ).

  • Just being himself :).

Seven Celebrity crushes:

  • Aamir Khan (The one and only hindi actor I considered an idol as soon as I saw his first movie. No others came close. But his "idol"ness has gone down a little after he left his wife :-p).

  • Harrison Ford (Saw him first in the Star Wars movie and loved him. Was very disappointed to know he was in the older generaton already :-p).

  • Pierce Brosnan (Can't believe the guy has a 30 year old daughter!!).

  • Michael Jordan (One of the first Afro-Americans I liked :) Me being tactical ;-) ).

  • Michael Schumacher (I know he's arrogant, but then he's generous too. He donated more than 10 million dollars for Tsunami..)

  • Sachin Tendulkar (Yeah I know, I know! He's short. But I had this hugggggge crush on him when I was in high school which lasted only for an year :-p)

  • Atal Bihari Vajpayee (Its not exactly a crush, but I'll be a fan of his for life :) )

Seven People you want to tag:

I really don't want to tag anyone, because they might just curse me ;-) But I'm putting a list here. Guys and gals, please post only if you want to and not because I tagged you :)

  • Amit (The first blog I ever commented on :) ).

  • Vids (I-care-a-hoot kind of woman which is why I like her).

  • Sachin (an old friend who I know will hate me for this :-D).

  • Neel (A blogger who makes very insignificant things extremely interesting).

  • On9thcloud (Her thoughts sort of reflect mine, I guess that's because we are both in very similar situations).

  • Anbu (You are caught because you commented twice on my blog. Hope you don't mind. Even if you do, I'll just have to bear your curses..).

  • Loonie (Comment once and you are caught 'cause I have nobody else to tag :) ).

Gaya, I'd have loved to tag you, but you have already suffered twice with the tagging business. Lekin mein is tagging ka badla zaroor loongi :-D Hehehehee :))
