Snugster is backkkkkkkkkkkkkk!

I cannot believe that its been more than an year since I pestered you guys. Well, I am a busy baby going to school these days, so I have absolutely no time to hack into mom's blog. I hope you understand. In case you still don't know who I am, I am Snugster {evil laugh}, hehehehe >:-).

I thought since mom has been slacking so much in keeping the blog updated, there's nothing like some photos of me to keep you guys interested :). How else to trouble you guys? Oh yeah, I'll also be listing a set of rules that people have to follow around me. Hope that keeps you satisfied until mom pops in (don't tell her I've been helping her, its not good for my reputation, ;-) :-D).

So whats up with me? Early December, I had a Christmas party organized by my school. I had a good time singing "Jingle bells" and "We wish you a merry Christmas" at the top of my voice. Mom keeps saying I was the most enthusiastic one out there :-D. Here's me with Santa Claus :).

As you know I celebrated my birthday in December. Yeah I was a bit ill, but I can't let a meagre illness spoil my troublesome nature now, can I?

I had a good time at both my parties (one for our friends in Lexington and the other for my friends at school).

Then January was the time for Sankranthi and bhogi pallu, so here I am getting hit with blueberries, chickpeas, flowers and coins :-D.

I have to admit that I joined in the fun - I threw some at myself too ;-).

What else? One fine snowy day, when mom and I both weren't sick in any way, we went out and had a good time playing in the snow..

We made this snow man errrrrr snow alien :-p.

Mom built her snow sculpture of the year - this caterpillar. I did help with some of the sticks :-p.

What else? Toys, toys and more toys :-D.

Got this laptop as a birthday gift from a friend and I love it. I love irritating mom with its sounds obviously :-p. Then there are the Lego blocks. I am always creating new architectures, but mom and dad always want me to clean up later. How am I supposed to be the next big architect then? :-p.

I have a set of vehicles which I usually take all around the house and "park" them. The parking lots can be anywhere from next to a door to under a chair. And no, I don't want to park them in the toy box, thank you very much :-p.

I also got a play dough set which mom doesn't really let me use when she isn't around - you know her reasons why :-p. We made these turtles the other day..

Last but not the least are the wooden puzzles mom got me. I cannot do this on my own (I hate to admit this but have to tell the truth sometimes ;-) :-D), so mom has to help me leaving all her work whenever I order her to :). And I usually say "Ta-Da" when I finish one :).

Thats it for the new toys. I promised you Snugster's laws, didn't I? So here goes -

1) I only operate on bribes or threats - so if you expect me to listen, then be ready with either. I prefer bribes btw :-D. For eg the days I eat on my own, I get a sticker. And the days I don't listen, I get threatened with everything from "no going out" to "giving away toys". But these people aren't very great at implementing threats :-p.
2) When I am talking, everyone else should be silent. If anyone tries to interrupt, then I have the right of saying "Shshshshshsh", "Silence" or "Don't talk back!" to anyone :-p.
3) All matters are important to me - so all words should be spoken clearly. If not I can ask questions anytime.
4) Actually, I get to ask any questions anytime anywhere :-p.
5) If anyone doesn't know how to play with any of my toys, they are to consult me and no one else :-D.
6) If I order someone to sing songs (yeah I'm looking at you mom), they should comply immediately - especially when they are bothering me by combing my hair. BTW here's a hair joke from my household -

Dad: "If you don't wear your hair in a pony tail, you won't be going out with us!"
Me: "But dad, you are not wearing one either"..
Hehehee :)).

Had enough of the laws? Ok gotta go now. Why am I feeling like I'm forgetting something? Oh right! I am going to be a big sister soon! I don't really know what that means, but mom keeps telling me that there's a little baby inside her stomach and the baby will come to our house by May 30th. I have generously offered to share my old rattles and other baby toys with the baby, but I can't promise anything else :-p. Mom will tell you more stories about me and my questions about the new baby soon. Bye bye and hearty congrats to mom and dad :).

Here we go!!

The invites were sent
The party hats stood tall..

The goody bags were filled up
With toys and candies for all.

The balloons were arranged
In purple, green, yellow and red..

They had two gold ones among them
With teletubby-stickers decorated.

Ofcourse there was a cake
All set in the teletubbies theme..

And then there was me
Looking my best in colour cream.

All were taken to the party hall
To bedeck the place for the party..

Then people arrived and cake was cut,
They sang, wished and dined for me.

I smiled, I jumped, I had fun,
I played, I ran, I laughed and cried too.

And thats how my dear friends,
I, Snugster the twister, turned two :).

1 and a half baby!

Mom was writing posts, then she made the excuse of tweets, then vanished :-p. I guessed its time for Snugster, the super baby :-D. Did you miss me? I guess not :(. Whether you miss me or not, I have to come and tell you what I've been upto every now and then. See, I'm such a good baby ;-).

I'm 1.5 years old today! Mom is still wondering where all the time went. And dad wishes he can understand half the things I keep babbling about (but he has conversations with me as if he does :-p). He doesn't know that we babies have our own code language :-D. He keeps trying to decode it, but hey I am not helping :-D. Okay okay, I know you are here for my updates, so lets start off..

I love being in the kitchen, I love banging bowls and spoons and all that jazz :-D.

I can open jars and bottles now, so whenever I see an opportunity, like a full water bottle within my reach, I open it and pour the water out :-D. Whats worse (according to mom, not according to me :-D), was that for 4 days, almost continuously, I took the salt shaker on the dining table and threw the salt all over the kitchen floor. Sadly, I have to report that I have been banned from the kitchen these days. Even when I'm allowed in there, I feel their hawk eyes on me all the time. Sigh!

I climb anything and everything these days. I not only climb the sofa, I try and climb the top portion of the sofa..

Mom keeps thanking God, that the house is carpeted everywhere. But she forgets about the kitchen where I try and climb the dining chairs ;-) :-D. BTW I have 16-teeth now!

I don't really trouble mom when it comes to food (now that gives me ideas, hehehehe). But I have some personal favourites. I love eating fruits and curd. Lovvvve Curd :). So much that mom puts some in a bowl and gives me a spoon to eat it now and then.

Well, its another story altogether that I hardly eat 1 or 2 spoons, rest is either on me or around me ;-).

Mom told you about my love of cats, but I love anything with 4 legs. We had been to the zoo sometime back, and I loved the petting zoo. I squeezed everything and anything in sight..

The warden was warning us not to touch the goats' tails and horns, but hey, I don't know English :-p. I didn't want to leave the place, they carried me while I was making loud and clear protests :-p.

Mom allows me to play in the backyard these days and I have discovered another love - my love of destroying grass life :-D.

I tear the grass, watch birds and planes for hours :).

For months now, I have been trying to open doors (mom has been feverishly thanking God each day that I can't). I have been frustrated about the whole thing, but have never given up.

All my efforts have been rewarded now. I can open doors for about a week now. No one, I repeat, no one can escape me now! Hehehehehe >:-)).

Mom told you about me speaking a lot of things, I say lots more now - Amma, Naana, Ammamma, Ajja, Thaatha, Mama, Aththa, Baabu, Paapu, Hai, Bye, Okay, Hala (Hello), Aithu, Pake (Park), Bala, Banana, Appal (Apple), Ubbala (Umbrella), Bucke (bucket), Dhudhu (for milk) and Abbu (for wound). Hey, I have to make them understand na, they are not brilliant enough to understand my language :-p. Other than these, whenever mom and dad ask me a few questions, I try to answer -

Q: "Sayankala ellige hogona?" (Where shall we go in the evening?)
A: "Pake" :-D.
Q: "Naana elli hogiddare?" (Where has dad gone?)
A: "Aatha" (for office)
Q: "Naana office ge hege hodru?" (How did he go to office?)
A: "Drrr" (for car)
Q: "Dhudhu kudiyona ok na?" (We'll drink milk ok?)
A: "Okay"
Q: "Aaitha?" (Are you done?)
A: "Aaithu"
Q: "What does tiger say?"
A: "Grrrrrr"
Q: "Whats your name?"
A: "Dhaa"

:-D. I also have a new bunny which sings and shakes its face/ears, I love dancing to its tunes. I can recognize many tunes - I do star shape in my hands and say "Appa" (for "Up above the world so high") whenever I hear the tune of "Twinkle Twinkle", I say "Yeeyaa yeeyaa" whenever I hear the tune of "Old McDonald", I clap my hands when I hear the tune for "If you are happy and you know it, clap your hands" and I say "bow bow" when mom sings "Nayi mari".

Hmm what else? I love to go to park and we try and go most evenings. I walk the entire way, while coming back they make me sit in the stroller. I'd rather walk :(. (Mom and dad keep laughing about it, but I'm trying to make a good impression here :-p). Also, I can climb up and slide on the slide on my own. Say hello to the new independent me :-D.

Lots of achievements for a 1.5 year old, don't you think? :-D. See ya later, alligator!

Snugster the twister!!

Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiii! Its been sometime since I talked to you, but you can't really have forgotten me. Don't tell me you have :((((. Its me, Snugster. I thought mom's been talking to you about me all this while. I'm a busy baby you see, don't have the time to sneak away from mom's ever-monitoring eyes and get my hands on the comp (I try! Believe me I try!!!).

Well, what if I tell you all the gory details on what I have been doing all these days, will you remember me then? Ok then :).

  • I have got a mouth full of teeth now (all the better to bite you with, my dear ;-) :-D), total 10 teeth (mom adds "front 8 incissors and 2 upper molars"). I'm so proud. But I do get a vehement "No" whenever I try to bite mom or dad. They should be more happy for me, you know :-p.

  • I walk all over the house now, so well, they keep watching me. I escape from their eyes now and then and get my hands on a few simple things or 2 (mom adds "Yup, computer, DVD player, phones, laptop etc are all simple things!"), but they don't encourage my exploring capabilities :(. I might be the new Magellan, you know ;-).

  • They have even put a gate to the kitchen so that I can't get my hands on mom's plants (she kept them inside for the winter). You have to let a baby get her hands dirty, you know :-p. But I have to admit, whenever they do keep the gate open, I run straight to the places they don't want me to >:-).

  • I talk now, talk a lot, but they don't understand me. I'm also sneaky, I say "Amma" "Naana" and several words whenever I want, but when they ask me to say something, I fool them by saying all the wrong words ;-) (please don't let them know and spoil my fun :-D).

  • Other than these, I can switch the TV on and off using the remote now and I do it several times :)).

  • I also pretend to press buttons and talk on the phone (I say "Ha" for hello :-D).

  • I can close doors, but haven't yet discovered how to open them (mom adds "Now thats a blessing!"). So I love closing the doors of the pooja room.

  • I also love laundry baskets, I overturn them all and distribute the clothes equally all over the house, but they don't appreciate my sense of interior decoration :-p.

  • My major accomplishment these days is climbing sofas, hurray! I climb up to grab remote, phones, whatever they try to keep safe from me and I can get down whenever I want too!

  • I can take my toys out of the toy-tote and put them in (the putting in part is only when mom insists I finish for the day and say "Good night" to each toy). But I hardly play with my toys, the house has many more interesting things ;-).

  • You know my thumb-sucking habit? Mom's been trying to get rid of it by enclosing my hands in gloves. She thinks she is successful, hehehehe :)).

  • What else? Mom started to potty train me, so I do most of peeing and pooping in the potty. Gross, you say? Hey, those are a major part of us babies' job profile :-p. But, well, mom will talk more on that.

I guess thats about it. I gotta run you know, a baby has a 1000 things to do. See ya!

P.S. Me the forgetful had forgotten to say a couple of things:

  • I love breakfast these days - I get to eat chapathi (in milk), poori, idli and dosa, all the stuff that grown-ups eat. But on some days I still eat Cerelac, so those days whenever I see mom and dad eating something - I protest and want to eat that too (I do get a couple of bites ;-) :-D)

  • The weather's slowly changing, so these days whenever its warm enough (as per the elders' decision), I get to go to park and play on swings/see-saw and slides. I lovvve the slide. I prefer playing in the mud and leaves there actually, but no one allows me to :(.

Thats about it. More updates only in my next post :-D.

Budday blast!

Snugster timmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmme!!

Thanku, thanku and thanku for all the budday wishes :). So sweet of you to remember and wish me. I am one year old and am a grown up girl now. So I have decided to defy mom and take over her blog for a post (err, sorry mom, won't do this again). Since am going off to spend New year in Florida, thought I'll quickly tell you what all I did for my first birthday.

You know that I celebrated the birthday as per Hindu calendar on 8th Dec. So there were various types of food (a few of which I got to eat) on that day. On my birthday I got up early, had my head bath and got dressed in a new zari langa.

There were again various types of foods. Plus mom baked an eggless orange cake, her first attempt at a cake. Thankfully I got only a taste, so I was saved :-D. But dad, naanamma and thaatha did say they loved the cake (don't know whether they were just being kind ;-) :-D).

So evening we had a personal celebration at home in which I cut the cake (well, dad and mom held my hand, but that doesn't count, I say!) and we all enjoyed eating it.

I got this rocking cycle as a gift from mom and dad..

I can't really peddle it yet, but I sure love to rock on :).

The next day we had a party at Gattitown.

I loved my cake :).

So I cut the cake again (man, I love birthdays :-D).

There were lot of grown-up kids like me (which was surprising) and I got many wonderful gifts :-D. (I am loving birthdays more and more ;-) :-D).

After lunch, we went to the gaming area and I really enjoyed the various rides :).

I was tired, but dad and mom enjoyed a few more games. Finally I was totally tired and done..

Well, in the evening we opened gifts and I did have a blast seeing new dresses and toys. All in all, a birthday well spent and well deserved. I just can't wait for another birthday (but mom says quite the opposite).

Gotta go now, gotta rest for the big trip tomorrow. More from mom later :).

Then and Now..

Sssssssssssssshhhhhhhh!! Mom is busy as usual, so I've sneaked into her blog again. Snugster is baaaaaaaaaaaaack!! Before mom checks in on me, let me tell you what I've been doing all this while. I am a busy baby, you see :-p.

I am a fast-learner. Don't believe me? First I used to lie down..

Then I learnt to roll onto my stomach..

It was difficult for me, but after lots of hesitation, I learnt to rollback to my back ;-).

At first everybody would prop me up with support for me to sit..

But I decided I needed no help, so first got on my knees..

Then sat all by myself..

Hehehehe!! Take that people!!

But still they wouldn't understand, they'd hold and support me to stand..

Enough was enough! So I got on entirely to my knees..

And decided to support myself!!

Don't tell mom, but now I am planning to walk, sneak up behind her and surprise her soon ;-) :-D.

Meanwhile lets talk about my food habits. Earlier, I used to have my cereal in mom's lap..

or dad would feed me on my pillow..

Now I have my own chair to sit and eat in..

Pretty cool huh?

So here I am :).

Oh oh, here comes mom. See ya!
